Just like we keep up to date with the maintenance of our home with items like insurance and rates etc, it’s also important to remember to do the same with your IT infrastructure.
Here’s a short checklist you might want to go through to check that you’ve got your house in order.
Software
- Is your software maintenance current?
- Are all your servers properly licensed?
- Are all your desktops properly licensed?
Hardware
- Is your hardware maintenance current?
- Do you have the appropriate level of hardware maintenance? (ie hours of coverage and response times)
- Have you arranged maintenance for items coming off warranty?
- Are you paying maintenance for equipment you no longer own?
- Have you updated IBM with the details of your latest purchases?
Disaster Recovery
- Do you have a disaster recovery plan in place?
- Is your disaster recovery plan sufficient?
- Have you tested your disaster recovery plan?
Other
- Do you have virus protection?
- Are your users protected from spam?
- Are you sufficiently protected from power outages?
- Do you have the contact details of your suppliers and service providers readily available?
