A common question asked by our customers is “do we rent equipment?”
The answer is YES!
We typically come across a demand for rentals in the following situations:
1 – Flexibility
We currently have customers that are renting complete machines from us.
Success Story
One example is a customer whose business was expanding meaning their backups were growing to the extent where they no longer fitted on their backup tape. The solution was to add another 12 months onto the term and incorporate two brand new LTO drives into the rental, all while not increasing their ongoing monthly payments.
2 – Short Term Business Needs
Some organizations experience unique trading peaks. Since this can be a one off spike, it may not be wise to invest large sums of money for upgrades that only cater for a short period of time. It is often useful to cover this period with a short term rental solution. Customers may also have special project needs.
Success Story
For example, a customer who after acquiring another business found they had a limited remaining capital budget but had an operational budget to consolidate the 2 businesses. This saw a requirement for the purchase of a third system to compile, develop and test both businesses on one system without disturbing production.
3 – Proof of Concept
Often it is hard to justify or even raise the capital for any required hardware.
Success Story
An example of this is we recently had a customer who needed to carry out a proof of concept. Instead of purchasing hardware which would have had no further use after testing, they instead chose to rent the solution from Computer Merchants for a 3 month period. When testing was complete they were able to purchase the right sized hardware while we arranged collection of the rented system.
4 – Try before you buy
This works well for customers who are not sure if a system will cater for their needs. Instead of renting then returning, if the system is suitable then at the end of the rental term the machine can be purchased.
5 – Legacy Systems
When organisations have systems which are in the process of being replaced it is usually very difficult to receive more capital to maintain the system over the last leg of its commercial life.
At the end of the rental period, the customer has a few options:
- Simply to hand the rented item back – Computer Merchants will organise pickup
- Purchase the equipment - Computer Merchants will rebate up to 50% of the rental monies paid
- If applicable, a new rental can be raised for an updated version of the item
If you have a need similar to the above examples, call us on 1800 777 111 for a No Obligation quote. The equipment could be on your floor within a week!
