We have recently been able to buy approximately 18 months of time for a customer, saving them from the dilemma of what to do when they don’t have the budget to purchase a new machine but find their existing machine is in need of a small upgrade.
They were faced with multiple projects including new application software, a new warehouse, and the prospect of a replacement machine. Faced with the prospect of having to upgrade their existing 9406/820 to accommodate all the new facilities and software was stretching the customer’s budget and ability to move forward.
We were able to come up with a machine upgrade to the existing 820 which increased their CPW both interactive and batch by almost double. An awesome saving for this customer as they were able to stay in the same software tier, same serial number, no additional software or software maintenance costs.
The only spend was around $12,000 on the hardware which provided the significant uplift in performance that they needed to keep up with the new environment. A great saving in time and money compared to having to migrate to a new machine and spend the extra funds now. This has allowed them to prioritise their projects and get on with their immediate business at hand.
We will continue to work with them to plan and budget properly over the next year for a new machine. For now, they have a painless and affordable option on board.
