Dear Margaret,
I really don’t know… the old grapevine just simply isn’t working like it used to! There was once a time where I could rely on the lovely Katherine Burns (Kb) to keep me informed of all the goings on in the district. You know, she would actually keep notes of any worthwhile news that would pass through the switch and just as soon as she could, she’d get us all onto a party line and pass on all of the latest!
Of course as the district grew she just simply didn’t have time to call us. She seemed to get busier and busier and even when I wanted to place a call I’d have to wait in line.
When her daughter Mary Burns (Mb) took over, I didn’t have to wait as long but she doesn’t seem to be as interested in the local news…. you know I’ve only just found out that the nice Mr McDade has moved on from Computer Merchants. Maybe when Katherines granddaughter Gretel Burns (Gb) takes over the switch, things will get better. I hear that she’s very fast!
Sincerely,
Annette Work
Dear Annette,
You are quite right. There is nothing quite so important as being part of an effective network. I do hope that you will be happy with Gretel. By the way, Mr McDade is having a wonderful time fishing, while the nice people at Computer Merchants continue to look after their customers in the way that you have grown to love. Perhaps you should ask Gretel to put you through to them – tell her 1800 777 111.
Margaret.

Dear Margaret, December 2007
