I just received my USED machine - who will unpack it?
Over the years, Computer Merchants have worked closely with freight company Hi-Tech Express to ensure that your equipment is handled with the highest care.
If you’ve received a machine from us lately, you may have noticed we are using a new kind of carton called a telescopic box. With every machine that is on a skid or a pallet we will be using these cartons and a ‘Rite on Site Service‘. This means:
- your machine will be placed exactly where you need it (eg your computer room),
- unpacked at the site by the Hi-Tech personnel and
- all the packing materials taken away for your convenience.
Some of you have already experienced the benefits of this service and we thank you for letting us know what your experience was like.

I just received my NEW machine - who will unpack it?
IBM classes most of its equipment as “CSU”, or Customer Setup. This means you are responsible for:
- the unpacking,
- the positioning of your equipment and
- removal of all packaging.
The important question is “Would you like to change that?”
If you answered yes, we would be very happy to provide the same Rite on Site Service you receive when purchasing a used machine!
