IBM 5250 Bar Code Scanning

As an IBM user with an Inventory System, our processes need to track over 5,000 items in our warehouse plus the items on their way to you, our customers.

We do this by the use of Bar Codes

All of our Applications run on an IBM iSeries. The challenge we had was to interface the Bar Code Equipment which runs winCE to our Applications in real-time.

The solution we chose was the Symbol MC9000 series equipment running 5250 Emulation over a wireless network.

The wireless communication uses IEEE 802.11b to give us the best coverage in a warehouse environment. The Symbol scanner guns simply appear to be 5250 workstations to the iSeries and the reliability of the operation has been great since implementation in 2004.

Our bar coding system is designed to enhance the accuracy & availability of our stock system. It’s important to us that the equipment you receive is the equipment you ordered from us.
