What’s Hot Right Now?

When we talk to our customers we often get asked “What’s hot at the moment?” Or “What have you got in stock?”

At the moment the iSeries models 800, 810 and 825 represent very good value in the market. In the brokerage cycle they are in the pricing “sweet spot”.

It wasn’t that long ago that a new entry level iSeries model 800 complete with a suite of software and a year of software maintenance sold for about $50,000 (plus GST). The same configuration can be purchased today for less than $20,000 (plus GST) on the used market. The IBM price increases that are coming next year (for the new i5’s) will make these 8xx series machines even better value for money.

The parts for these 8xx series machines have also come down a long way in price, so if you already have an 800, 810 or 825 and you need a second machine or a disk, memory or processor upgrade, then you will find the pricing very attractive compared to your original purchase price.

Our Broadcast Fax Specials

Many of you would have seen our Specials Faxes from time to time. We send them whenever we want to let you know about some really good items we have in stock. These Broadcast Fax Specials often get sold very quickly.

A recent example of this was a package of more than 30 brand new IBM LTO tape drives and autoloaders - generation 1, 2 and 3 - complete with IBM warranty. We bought them at a greatly reduced price. As a result, a number of our customers have already got themselves a great deal, many buying units for less than half the original price! Within 2 weeks of us owning these, 50% were sold.

During the month of November, we had over 70 IBM LTO tape drives in our warehouse. About 30 were brand new with IBM warranty and 40 were used. At the time of writing this newsletter piece, we only had 23 of the used tape drives left and 9 of the brand new stock. In fact, we sold over 40 IBM LTO Tape drives in the month of November.
