- IBM are withdrawing OS/400 V5R2 from support as at 30/04/2007.
- OS/400 V5R3 withdrawn from marketing on January 2008. Support is expected to continue into 2009.
- #5096 and #5296 expansion tower announced. They are essentially #5094 #5294 with just the PCI/X slots, ie no disk slots.
- #5786 and #5787 (EXP24 Disk Enclosure) announced holds up to 24 disks only (#4326, #4327 etc) no I/O slots. Supports up to 4 LPAR’s per enclosure. Prerequisite of OS/400 V5R3 onwards. Connected to I/O via external SCSI cables. Supported on model #800 / #810 etc onwards.
- New disk IOA’s 1.5Gb write cache and 1.6Gb read cache. Raid 5, Raid 6 and i5/OS mirroring capable. Requires V5R4 and POWER5 and later hardware.
