Passwords are one of those things that are so easy to forget or misplace. But it’s really important you let us know your relevant passwords when we are buying equipment from you.
Cautionary Tale
Recently we purchased several IBM 2109 switches that customers were upgrading from (both F & S models). Some of the switches had their passwords lost, changed, forgotten or deleted.
Unfortunately, it’s impossible to reset one of these switches to the defaults, and if the factory password has been changed we can’t obtain the Root or Admin passwords.
Password Tips
The best way around this is to include your passwords when you are preparing an item to be sold or traded in with Computer Merchants.
- Some customers email their sales rep with this information prior to the sale.
- Others simply stick a label on the top cover with the Admin and Root passwords.
Whatever works for you is fine for us.
