Still in System 36 Mode?
Do you still run in System 36 mode and plan to upgrade to a newer machine “sometime”? If so, here is a very important piece of information you need to be aware of…
S/36 and S/38 Migration (OS/400 Option 4) and S/36 Migration Assistant (OS/400 Option 11) have both been removed from OS/400 as of V5R3.
This means that if you want to upgrade your system from running in System 36 mode to running in OS/400, your “new” system will need to be on OS/400 V5R2 and not V5R3 or V5R4.
The brand new System i servers available from IBM come with a minimum of V5R3, so if you’re running in System 36 mode, you will need to purchase a used system as your way forward. The good news is that there are plenty of them around and they are a cost effective solution.
So why not upgrade your system and enjoy the benefits of much newer technology? You will probably find that your ongoing maintenance costs are reduced as well. Call us on 1800 777 111
