My Journey – Continued

12 Days of living on the open road with friendships developing and the great Australian landscape…I want to first say a big thanks to all you guys who called, emailed and donated to Amazon Heart and no, I didn’t get to keep the motor bike, but I got a Harley Davidson Leather jacket.

What a great time we had, 16 women from across Australia and Mee Yee from Malaysia, set off for a life changing experience.

We left Melbourne on Friday 18th after appearing on channel 10’s “9am” show from the Como center in South Yarra with friends and family waving us off and some very emotional Computer Merchants team members watching back home in Brisbane. After two days of high winds over the West Gate bridge and heaps of traffic, to the open road of the Great Ocean Road we set off.

Along they way we developed friendships that will last a life time. Family, friends and Breast Cancer survivors met us on the way with cheers, hugs and lots of tears.

With lots of twisty roads, media coverage stops, a day of rain, heavy winds and then to the beautiful Adelaide hills we made it to Nurioopta where the National HOG rally was being held.

On Sunday 28th October we took to the road with 1500 Harley Davidson motor bikes. What a feeling that was from as far as the eye could see we where in the thick of Harley’s, it was awesome. On our way to Adelaide on Sunday our bikes ticked over the 2,000 km mark, making this one of the longest Amazon Heart rides ever.

I managed to get my open license 3 weeks before the ride and I was nervous. I rode my 250cc around town as much as I could and was terrified to go over 80kph. I was allocated an XL 883L Sportster, and by the end of the ride I test rode a 2008 XL 1200cc Nightster which I loved and has been added to my wish list.

This ride has given me the strength to believe in dreams and the courage that you can do anything you set your heart on!
