*noMAX Product Releases For 2007

This year will see a range of new releases for *noMAX, the biggest step forward in the software for quite some time. It is the result of careful analysis of the DR/HA marketplace over the past two years and suggestions made from the existing customer base.

The planning, coding and testing has taken the best part of 2006 to complete and now 2007 will see our customers being able to reap the benefits of the significant investment in the ongoing development of *noMAX.

By the way, Maximum Availability had a great 2006 and is approaching 500 installations of their software worldwide. They are now the market leaders in Australia for iSeries replication software.

An early release programme for *noMAX garrison v5.1 is scheduled to commence in February 2007, followed by *noMAX defender and *noMAX sentry later that month. Underpinning this release are 4 core modules that individually and combined have been designed to maximise your ability to configure and manage *noMAX to your specific environmental requirements.

These 4 core modules are:

1. Autonomics – provides the ability to correct out-of-sync objects automatically and enable system operators to quickly analyze and correct the cause of any replication problem
2. Enhanced Auditing – generates manual or scheduled system snapshots of any or all of the source objects that are sent to the target and then compared. These snapshots can be journaled and quickly actioned should an audit-related issue be identified
3. PatrolMAX – a new and powerful monitoring feature that processes the autonomic request to replicate out-of-sync objects and ensuring, as a result, greater operating efficiency and quicker replication issue response and resolution times
4. User Administration (Green Screen Menu) – to further enhance end-user administration and ease-of-use, a Green Screen management tool has been introduced that delivers almost all of what is available on the existing *noMAX GUI. This provides greater choice and flexibility as both the menu and GUI can be used in the same environment

Feature Highlights

In addition to the core modules introduced, a range of new feature enhancements have also been included as part of this release.

These include:

• GUI Dashboard – the replication environment will be even easier to view and manage via the *noMAX user interface with the addition of colour-coded icons representing the status of each configuration
• Property File – allows new and existing *noMAX processes to be controlled through property settings resulting in greater user flexibility and ability to customise their environment and the overall replication process
• IFS Role Swap – will enable users to run their processing on the target system (while the Primary is unavailable) and then Role Swap to the Primary with all of the required information captured. This new feature provides greater functionality on the backup system and ensures users do not lose their IFS-related transactions during a Role Swap
• Object Types – *USRIDX (User Index) *USRSPC (User Space) and *SAVF (Save File) can now be replicated
• Spool File Replication – provides users with the ability to replicate spool-to-data to the target system. This new feature helps to ensure that the two systems maintain identical matches of information which provides greater utilization of the user’s applications and enhances the overall functionality on the backup system
• Library Level Activity – allows users to enter or select multiple library names at the same time which will considerably speed up this important process
• GUI Journal Management – the ability to directly view and manage journals via the *noMAX GUI interface. This new feature will help to more quickly and effectively manage the user’s overall replication environment.
