Our Environmental Footprint Statement April 2008

Here at Computer Merchants, we’re serious about minimising our impact on the environment. We’ve previously stated that:

We will calculate and publish our carbon and water useage per person so that we can publicly work towards improving this and share our progress.

 We meant it.

Our Water Usage

Calculated as the number of litres of water used, averaged per person per day, we used 74% less water in 2007 than in 2005. Much of these water reductions relate to changes made in the landscaping on our premises.

Our Power Consumption

Our Total Power Consumption for 2007 was 75,551 kWh for 23 staff. We are working with our air conditioning maintenance company to reduce our energy consumption. We will reduce the numbers of hours that the air conditioners run by changing the times when they automatically turn on and off. We expect a slight saving in power consumption based on this, but each small saving adds up.

Our Carbon Footprint

Our Total Carbon Emissions for 2007 were 79.9 tonnes.

We used the following equation to calculate our footprint:

Emissions = (t CO₂-e) = (75,551 x 1.058 ) / 1000 = 79.9 tonnes
