Hello from the Computer Merchants Logistics Team!
As you will read in the Tech Section of this month’s newsletter, it was our responsibility to organise the shipping of the System i570 to Bank of South Pacific in PNG.
Our responsibilities included working closely with production and our on-site engineer Richard to track the progress of the order and book the collection. We also worked closely with DHL – from completing shipping documents and monitoring the progress of the consignment, updating BSP every step of the way. The team at DHL helped us succeed in getting these sensitive goods shipped to PNG within our time frame and in safe condition.
One of the challenges we faced was that the equipment could not travel upright due to height restrictions into PNG. In order to ship the goods safely into PNG, Richard built the machine then deinstalled all components in order for the rack to ship lying down. The components were then packed into two separate shipping crates, and air-freighted to Bank of South Pacific where Richard reassembled the machine.
Once all the work was complete and Richard had returned to Australia, it was great to receive the following feedback from the Head of Project Management in PNG:
“I personally would also like to extend my thanks to you and your team for such a professional installation, from the regular communications, packaging and transportation of the i570, to the efforts made by Richard whilst here in PNG.”
Nick Steele,
Bank South Pacific
Thanks for the feedback Nick!
Another happy Computer Merchants customer!
