For a variety of reasons there are always some of you needing to move premises or move your IT equipment from one location to another. It could be a change of head office due to a lease expiry, a re-purposing of the building or maybe you’ve outgrown your current premises. Or perhaps you’re facing a significant investment to refurbish your computer room facility and it makes sense to move your equipment to an offsite data centre instead.

When you’re faced with a move there’s a lot to do, a lot to think about and lots of moving parts to deal with. We have been heavily involved in a number of relocation projects for our clients so we thought we’d let you know about some of the ways we can help.

  • Information – we can help you assess and work through your options to help you decide what’s best for you. This includes providing pricing on various options, for example computer room fit-out vs cloud vs hosting, migration services, link requirements etc.
  • Rental (swing kit) or new fit-out – we rent swing equipment to enable relocations and we supply new equipment you can migrate to in your new facility.
  • Project management – planning sessions, arranging site surveys, freight moves, permit to work forms for engineers and freight companies to go onsite to work in data centres, keeping things on track and keeping you updated each step of the way.
  • Professional services – power down of equipment, labelling of cables, prepare equipment for packing, arrange freight moves, unpack equipment, remove packaging, rack & stack, re-cable and power up equipment.

In a recent example we rented a mainframe, high-end disk system and virtual tape library (VTL) to enable the end users’ production and DR environments to be moved. We also included services to project manage the relocations as well as services to securely overwrite the data on the rental equipment before we arranged to pick it up. The customer was pleased that their project was managed for them so that they could focus on “business as usual”. Let us know how we can help with your next move.
